A Store Built on Community

The SLO General Store was created to provide opportunity for local artisans, makers, and farmers. Nestled inside the vibrant SLO Public Market at 3845 S. Higuera Street, we set out to build more than just a retail space — we wanted a gathering point for the people and products that define San Luis Obispo.

Our mission has always been to connect local producers to local consumers, enabling the discovery of amazing products made right here on the Central Coast. From the farms that dot the rolling hills to the studios and kitchens tucked along our streets, every item on our shelves has a story rooted in this community we love.

We work directly with local farmers and small businesses to provide seasonal produce, fruit, meats, dairy, and pantry items — while also showcasing the incredibly talented artisans who create unique home, bath, beauty, art, and specialty goods.

Beyond shopping, we host workshop nights and community events that bring people together for an experience that goes well beyond the transaction. Because at the end of the day, we're not just a store — we're a community hub.
